Multi-agency security operation recovers 201 camels and 300 goats in Isiolo

A combined effort of security personnel, village elders, and animal trackers in Isiolo County has yielded impressive results: the recovery of 201 camels and 300 goats and sheep stolen by cattle rustlers.
Isiolo Deputy County Commissioner, Mr. Patrick Musango, confirmed the successful operation. With swift action, security officers and elders managed to retrieve 93 camels on the same day they were stolen. Their relentless pursuit then led them to five suspected hideouts, yielding an additional 108 camels from Kipsing, Tasia, Kalama, and Learata. Sadly, one camel perished in a shootout with police officers.

Mr. Musango further announced the recovery of 300 goats and sheep snatched three weeks ago. These animals, along with the recovered camels, will be returned to their rightful owners during a ceremony at the Mlango Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) camp, presided over by Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki.
The fight against livestock theft extends beyond this recent success. Mr. Musango revealed the recovery of 10 cattle stolen a week ago from the Ngaremara area. He urged chiefs and assistant chiefs to strengthen collaboration with security forces, elders, and Nyumba Kumi organizations to ensure the safety of their communities.
